SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team concluded the regular season with a fifth place finish in the Centennial Conference regular season standings after falling to No. 21 Swarthmore by a 9-0 score on Saturday.
The Diplomats were competitive throughout the doubles matches, with the tightest battle of the afternoon coming in the middle of the lineup where Pedro Norte and Gonzalo Gentou dropped a hard-fought 8-6 match.
Gentou was also the closest Diplomat to earning a team point in singles as he forced a 10-point tiebreak with a 6-4 win during his second set of No. 3 singles. Unfortunatley for the F&M first-year, the tiebreak ultimately went to the Garnet by a 10-3 score.
With its spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament already secured heading into the day, Franklin & Marshall will now turn its attention to that upcoming first round match at fourth-seeded Haverford which is set for Tuesday, April 25. The match time will be decided following a conference call on Monday morning.
