Women's Tennis Readies for CC Tournament

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team looks to make a deep run in the postseason as it begins the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament hosting Gettysburg on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. 

Tuesday, April 30 - Lancaster, Pa.
First Round - No. 5 Gettysburg at No. 4 Franklin & Marshall - 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 2 - Haverford, Pa.
Semifinal 1 - No. 3 Swarthmore vs. No. 2 Haverford - 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 2 - Baltimore, Md.
Semifinal 2 - No. 4/5 Winner at No. 1 Hopkins - 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 4 – at Highest Remaining Seed
Championship - Semifinal Winners - 1:00 p.m.

CC Tournament History
Franklin & Marshall makes yet another return to the CC Tournament after qualifying for the postseason for the ninth-consecutive year, with the exception of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons being altered or canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. F&M looks to make it back-to-back seasons with a win in the first round after defeating Washington College in last year's tournament opener.

Johns Hopkins 16, Franklin & Marshall 5, Swarthmore 5, Muhlenberg 2, Gettysburg 1, Washington College 1

A Look at the Field 
No. 1 seed Johns Hopkins enters the tournament looking for its 15th consecutive championship after posting a perfect 9-0 conference record this season. No. 2 seed Haverford had its lone conference loss come against the Blue Jays in earlier in April. No. 3 seed Swarthmore is on a four-match winning streak with its last loss coming against Haverford. No. 5 Gettysburg has split its last four matches with losses to Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore. No. 6 Washington College looks to regroup after a two-match losing skid to Gettysburg and Haverford.

In the Rankings
Johns Hopkins is ranked No. 6 in the nation, while Haverford is No. 29 and Swarthmore is No. 36. Regionally, Johns Hopkins is No. 1, followed by Haverford (No. 2), Swarthmore (No. 3), Franklin & Marshall (No. 4), Gettysburg (No. 5) and Washington College (No. 7).

The Projected Lineup 

No. 1 Singles – Jenna Harrison
Harrison is 3-6 overall this season with wins coming against Muhlenberg, Ursinus, and Washington College while competing primarily out of the No. 1 position.

No. 2 Singles – Sophia Rhazali
Rhazali has won three of her last five singles matches and has accumulated a 10-11 record at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

No. 3 Singles – Mackenzie Sherman
Sherman is 5-14 so far this season with all of her wins coming in the month of April.

No. 4 Singles – Rebecca Bellick
Tied for the team lead in singles wins, Bellick holds a record of 12-10 and has won her last two-consecutive matches.

No. 5 Singles – Amelia Squires
Tied with Bellick for most singles wins on the team, Squires is 12-9 this year and has won eight of her last nine matches.

No. 6 Singles – Kakie Colclough
In her rookie season, Colclough has collected a 7-10 record, including a victory over Millersville in late March.

A Look at Doubles 
The No. 1 duo of Mackenzie Sherman and Sophia Rhazali enters the CC Tournament with a 4-10 overall record, so far this season.

Lorena Saavedra and Amelia Squires are 8-6 overall and 4-2 against conference opponents when competing at the No. 2 spot. The duo has posted a 6-4 record in their last 10 matches.

Kakie Colclough and Presley Daggett have teamed up to collect an impressive 12-7 mark at No. 3 doubles. The pairing looks to continue its success in the postseason as they are 6-3 in conference play this season.
