SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team opened its fall season with matches against Swarthmore, Haverford, and Stevens over the weekend. All four teams who took part in this weekend's action were regionally ranked a season ago, giving the Diplomats a good test as they prepare for the upcoming ITA Regional Championships.

The Diplomats found their greatest success of the weekend in doubles as they won two matches against both Swarthmore and Stevens, while taking one match against Haverford. Jenna Harrison, Natalie Untermeyer and Lorena Saavedra both won two matches with a variety of lineup combinations. Untermeyer and Saavedra teamed up for a tiebreak win against Haverford, while Harrison and Isabel Benitez made it two F&M tiebreak victories in doubles when they secured a win versus Stevens. The Diplomats' second win against the Ducks came when Presley Daggett and Kakie Colclough teamed up for an 8-5 win.

Untermeyer also stood out in singles play during her collegiate debut with the Diplomats as she took a pair of wins against Swarthmore and Stevens. Her victory against the Garnet came in a decisive 10-point tiebreak which she took by a 10-8 score. She later won in straight sets against Stevens after claiming a second set tiebreak victory.

Women's tennis returns to action this coming weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional Championship that will be hosted by Mary Washington. That regional championship will run from Saturday, September 21 through Monday, September 23.
