FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team sent two singles players and one doubles team to compete at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships that began on Saturday and were hosted by Mary Washington. Each of those players competed in the championship draw of the regional tournament.

First-year Sahara Ahmad was the standout on day one for the Diplomats as she started her tournament with a Round of 64 victory against Washington and Lee's Annie Jennings. Ahmad jumped out to the early lead with a 7-5 victory during the first set before her opponent evened the match at one-all by winning the second. Heading into the decisive 10-point tiebreak, Ahmad was a 10-7 winner to advance to the Round of 32 where she ultimately fell to fifth-seeded Raine Weis of Christopher Newport.

Mackenzie Sherman competed in both the singles and doubles championship draws of the ITA Tournament. Sherman drew Carnegie Mellon's Zoe Angell in a tough opening round singles matchup while teaming up with Sophia Rhazali for doubles where that duo fell to their Centennial Conference foes from Swarthmore.

Sunday will mark the final day of action at the ITA Regional Championships for the Diplomats as the Sherman/Rhazali pairing will square off against Virginia Wesleyan at 8:30 a.m. before Sherman plays against Ursinus' Alessandra Armour at 10:30 a.m. in singles action.
