Women's Tennis Finishes Strong at ITA Regional Championship

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team closed its 2024 ITA Southeast Regional Championship on a high note with several strong performances in the consolation rounds on Sunday. The Diplomats earned wins in both the championship singles and doubles draws throughout the day's action.

Mackenzie Sherman started her morning with an 8-4 victory over Centennial Conference foe Alessandra Armour of Ursinus. Playing an eight-game pro set ,Sherman claimed an 8-5 victory in her first consolation match before falling to Washington and Lee's Riho Lijima.

Sherman was also in action for doubles as she teamed up once again with Sophia Rhazali. That duo dominated Virginia Wesleyan's Lina Hackner and Zoe Vliegen by an 8-1 score before securing a walkover victory against their opponents from Washington and Lee.

Women's tennis will now have one last competition during the fall season as they will host Division I Bucknell in a dual match on Saturday, October 19. That final date of the fall season is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Brooks Tennis Center.
