Women's Tennis Knocks Off No. 27 Grinnell, 4-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (3-3) split Wednesday's matches at the USTA National Center. The Diplomats fell to Rhodes (7-3), 4-3, before completing a 4-3 upset-win over No. 27 Grinnell (11-5).

The pairing of Sophia Rhazali and Amelia Squires won both of their doubles matches on Wednesday, competing in the No. 3 match in both contests. The duo won 6-2 against Rhodes and 7-5 against Grinnell to improve to three wins together this year. Rhazali also won both of her singles' matches on the day. Rhazali took down her opponent from Rhodes, 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 6 match, before winning the No. 4 match against Grinnell, 6-2, 6-2, to improve to three wins this spring.

In the Diplomats' loss to Rhodes, Sahara Ahmad won the No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-2, for her third individual victory this season. Natalie Untermeyer held off her opponent, 6-3, 7-5, in the No. 4 match for her fourth singles' win of the year.

Franklin & Marshall swept through the doubles' matches against Grinnell. In addition to Rhazali and Squires' win, the duo of Ahmad and Untermeyer downed their opponent, 7(7)-6(4) for their fourth win as a pairing this season. Jenna Harrison and Mackenzie Sherman won the No. 1 doubles match, 7(7)-6(4) for their first win together this spring.

To close out Grinnell, Rebecca Bellick defeated her opponent in the No. 5 match, 6-3, 6-2, while Lorena Saavedra downed her opponent in the No. 6 match, 6-2, 6-4. Both Diplomats earned their second singles' wins of the season.

Franklin & Marshall concludes its Florida Spring Break trip on Thursday with a match against Sweet Briar at 11:30 a.m.
