LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College swept the doubles matches and recorded victories at #1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles to defeat Bryn Mawr College 8-1 in Centennial Conference women's tennis action at the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center.
The win raises F&M's record to 11-3 on the season, 7-2 in Centennial Conference play, as the victory raises Franklin & Marshall's record to 12-0 all time against Bryn Mawr (3-13, 2-8 Centennial Conference) in tennis.
Franklin & Marshall rolled through the doubles matches as the team of Barbara Bee (So., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and Kate Gaskins (So., Richmond, VA/Mills Goodwin) defeated Jen Mansh and Leah Blankenship 8-2 in the #1 match.. At #2, Lizzy Denenberg (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Sanford) and Jenna Ishkanian (Fr., Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) dominated Abby Fritz and Steffi Aspero 8-3 before Maria Papalia (Sr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) and Beth Conner (Sr., Leawood, KS/Shawnee Mission East) knocked off Melissa Mansh and April Lee 8-0 in the #3 match.
In singles, Gaskins defeated Jen Mansh 6-0, 6-1 at #1, Papalia dropped Fritz 6-4, 6-1 at #2, Conner handled Melissa Mansh 6-1, 6-3 at #4, Denenberg upended Lee 6-0, 6-1 at #5 and Christina Henkel (Fr., Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win over Aspero at #6.
The Owls' victory came at #3 as Blankenship came back to defeat Bee 7-5, 6-1.
Franklin & Marshall (11-3, 7-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 26 at home versus Johns Hopkins University. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
