COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College women's tennis team improved to 8-1 on the season, 4-0 in Centennial Conference play, with a 9-0 victory at Ursinus College.
The win marks the 29th in 32 meetings for the Diplomats over the Bears (0-8, 0-4 Centennial Conference) and the 29th straight since Ursinus' last victory in the series in 1977.
In singles, #1 Katie Gaskins (So., Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) downed Courtney Root 6-3, 6-2, while Barbara Bee (So., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) defeated Emily Malinkowski 6-0, 6-1 at #3 and Marie Papalia (Sr., Chatham, NJ/Chatham) notched an 8-0 win at #2 over Rebecca Gotwals to lead the Diplomats.
Franklin & Marshall (8-1, 4-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 6 at Muhlenberg College. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
