LANCASTER, PA - The Washington College
women's tennis team won the top two spots in doubles and top five
spots in singles en route to a 7-2 Centennial Conference (CC)
victory over Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon. The
Diplomats fell to 5-5 (1-3 CC) while the Shorewomen improved to 7-2
(3-1 CC) with the win.
In singles, Victoria Balonik downed Kelsey Mills, 6-0, 6-0.
Finnegan rolled to a 6-0, 6-0, win against Lackey at No. 1 singles,
while Marshall beat Weiner at No. 2 after leading, 5-2, in the
first set. Foster bested Russo, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3, while McNicol
topped Harteg, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 and Cohen defeated Ertel, 6-4,
6-4, at No. 5.
In doubles, F&M picked up its first point of the match at
No. 3 where Balonik and Katie Ertel downed Kat Cohen and
Mills, 8-4, at No. 3. Jordan Finnegan and Brittany
Marshall posted an 8-6 victory over Meredith Lackey and Dana Russo
at No. 1, while Kellie Foster and Campbell McNicol topped Valeri
Harteg and Danielle Weiner, 8-5, at No. 2.
F&M won at No. 6 as Balonik downed Mills, 6-0, 6-0. Finnegan
rolled to a 6-0, 6-0, win against Lackey at No. 1 singles, while
Marshall beat Weiner at No. 2 after leading, 5-2, in the first set.
Foster bested Russo, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3, while McNicol topped
Harteg, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 and Cohen defeated Ertel, 6-4, 6-4, at
