BALTIMORE, Md, - No. 13 Johns Hopkins shut out visiting Franklin & Marshall, 9-0, on Friday night in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action. The Blue Jays improve to 7-1, 5-0 CC while the Diplomats fell to 0-9 and 0-3 CC.
Hailey Hogan and Nandita Krishnan defeated Valeri Harteg and Anya Sahaydacjny by an 8-1 score in no. 1 doubles action. Brooke Pottish and Carolyn Warren rolled to an 8-0 win at second over Chelsea Bush and Shannon Littlefield. Courtney Boger and Abby Clark, won by an identical 8-0 score at third over Kelly Mehr and Meryl Schulman.
Krishnan lost just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 over Sahaydacjny in no. 1 singles action. Ariel Several turned in the same score at second, beating Harteg, 6-0, 6-1. Yoko Hirase dropped just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Littlefield at third. Boger won 12 straight games at fourth to beat Katherine Sutton, 6-0, 6-0. The matches at fifth and sixth were played in pro sets. Vanessa Charubhumi beat Victoria Lussier 8-2 at fifth and Lauren Fields won 8-1 at sixth over Bush.
F&M returns tomorrow at Haverford for a 12:00 p.m. match.
