WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Franklin & Marshall opened its Centennial Conference schedule with an 8-1 win over McDaniel Saturday. The Diplomats improved to 1-0 CC, 5-3 overall while the Green Terror fell to 0-3, 5-5.
Ross Silverberg beat Ben Farber (6-0, 6-3) in No. 1 singles, Will MacArthur defeated Justin Ward (6-2, 6-2), Eric Rouff bested Steve French (7-5, 6-4) and Peter Bookman knocked off Brian Kron (8-3) in the first four singles meets. McDaniel picked up its only win when Chad Palman defeated Timothy Belford, 8-3, before F&M;s Geoffrey Brennan blanked Sam Morris, 8-0, in the final singles meet.
Tommy Weibye and Doug Silverstein teamed to win the first doubles 8-2 over Farber and Palman. Samuel Stone and Paul Salierno beat French and Ward, 8-5, and James Tunner and Bookman defeated Bron and Matthew Langsdale 8-3.
The Diplomats host Johns Hopkins Wednesday in a Centennial Conference meet at 4 p.m.
