F&M Kicks of CC Action

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team opened up Centennial Conference (CC) play on Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over Muhlenberg. The result brought the Diplomats' record to 4-3, 1-0 CC on the season, while the Mules fell to 1-4, 0-1 CC. 

The pair of conference opponents earned a split in singles play at 3-3, with F&M's wins coming from Nicole Russo at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2), Megan FitzMaurice at No. 4 (6-3, 6-0) and Emily Gruenberg from the No. 5 position (6-1, 6-2). 

In double's competition, the Diplomats dominated with wins at all three spots in the order. A team of Caitlin Rummelsburg and Anya Sahaydachny paired up at the top position and cruised to the 8-1 victory. FitzMaurice and Dana Sleeper came out on top at No. 2 with an 8-5 decision over the Muhlenberg's Sara Finger and Sharen Resnikoff. 

Gruenberg and Rachel Weinstein also rolled in their match, with an 8-1 win at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. 

F&M returns to the court on Saturday when the Diplomats continue CC play with a matchup on the road against Washington at 1:00 p.m.
