F&M Handles Haverford

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak to Haverford, downing the Fords for the first time since 2007 with a narrow 5-4 victory on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The win propelled the Diplomats to 7-4, 3-1 CC, while Haverford fell to 7-3, 3-2 CC.

The pair of conference opponents earned a 3-3 split in singles action after Nicole Russo (No. 3) picked up a win in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-0), Emily Gruenberg (No. 5) cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory and Allysan Breece (No. 6) came away with a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set decision.

Double's play continued to be a source of strength for the Diplomats as Caitlin Rummelsburg teamed with Anya Sahaydachny at the No. 1 spot for an 8-4 win, while Russo and Gruenberg paired up for the 8-1 victory at No. 3.

F&M returns to action tomorrow when the Diplomats (ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South Region) travel to take on TCNJ in non-conference play. Action kicks off at 11:00 a.m.
