Washington Edges F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team fell to Washington by a 6-3 score on Sunday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The loss dropped the Diplomats, who are ranked No. 15 in the Atlantic South region, to 5-2, 1-1 CC on the season, while the Shorewomen remained unbeaten at 7-0, 3-0 CC.

F&M dropped behind by a 2-1 score following doubles action, as the duo of Tara Buchney and Emily Gruenberg picked up the Diplomats' lone with from the No. 3 position by an 8-5 tally. 

Caitlin Rummelsburg was impressive at the No. 2 spot in singles competition, climbing out of an early 1-0 hole by taking the final two sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-1). Gruenberg earned F&M's other singles victory on the day, securing a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6.

The Diplomats continue CC play on Wednesday, traveling to the nation's No. 2 team Johns Hopkins for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
