Diplomats Keep Rolling; Down Garnet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team earned its third consecutive Centennial Conference (CC) win with a 7-2 bashing of Swarthmore on Saturday afternoon. Ranked No. 11 in the Atlantic South regional rankings, the Diplomats improved to 8-3, 4-2 CC, while the No. 20 regionally ranked Garnet fell to 7-6, 3-3 CC. 

F&M exited doubles play with a 2-1 lead after the No. 2 team of Dana Sleeper and Nicole Russo registered an 8-2 decision and the duo of Emily Gruenberg and Tara Buchney (No. 3) came away with a narrow 8-6 win. 

Russo, the region's No. 17 ranked singles player, continued her stellar play from the No. 1 spot in the lineup, downing her opponent by a 6-2, 6-1 tally. Caitlin Rummelsburg (No. 2) cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 straight-set victory, while Buchney rolled at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1). 

Gruenberg secured a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, while Allysan Breece paced the bottom of the lineup with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 6. 

The Diplomats continue action on Wednesday, traveling to Gettysburg for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
