SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's tennis team dropped a tough 8-1 match against one of the nation's top teams on Saturday, falling to No. 25 Swarthmore on the road.
The Centennial Conference (CC) loss lowered the Diplomats' record to 7-6, 5-3 CC, while the Atlantic South's No. 7 ranked Garnet improved to 9-4, 5-1 CC.
By the Numbers
Swarthmore grabbed the decisive 3-0 lead after doubles play. The No. 1 duo of Allison Wolters and Gavriel Rubenstein battled throughout their match but came up short at 8-3.
In singles action, Wolters claimed F&M's lone win with an impressive 7-5, 6-0 sweep at No. 1.
Emma Wu put forth a strong effort at No. 3, picking up a 6-4 win in the second set to force a super tiebreaker. However, Swarthmore registered the 10-5 victory in the next frame.
