LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall women's tennis handled Gettysburg on Monday evening by an 8-1 final in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats (4-7, 3-3 CC) swept through doubles, then did the same in the last five singles matches to best the Bullets (7-6, 2-3 CC).
After notching fairly quick victories in doubles, the Diplomats quickly turned their eye to singles with a 3-0 lead.
Jenna Harrison had the quickest task at #3 singles, throwing up double bagels in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Clara March Okuyama and Mackenzie Sherman weren't far behind, dropping just a single game in their respective victories at #4 and #6 singles. Hayley Bidwell toughed out a 7-5 victory in the first set before flying past her opponent at #5 with a 6-1 second set. Sammi Perry had the toughest test at #2, dropping a first set tiebreak, then gutting out a 7-5, 10-7 finish to clinch victory.
F&M continues play with its pentultimate contest, facing off against Bryn Mawr on Saturday beginning at noon.
