LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall women's tennis swept through doubles without dropping a game, then cruised in singles to beat Bryn Mawr 9-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday. With the Diplomats' (6-7, 5-3 CC) win over the Owls (2-7, 0-5 CC), F&M has one final match to stake its claim to a spot in the CC postseason.
Prior to the match, the team honored seniors Kayley Burke, Ella Mure, and Caroline Ulrich.
F&M bageled its opponents in doubles action, as the pairings of Cassidy Landau/Sammi Perry, Jenna Harrison/Mackenzie Sherman, and Kayley Burke/Caroline Ulrich all finished with 8-0 victories.
That success carried into singles, as Landau, Perry, and Mure dropped just single games en route to wins at #1, #2, and #6 singles. Clara March Okuyama polished off a 6-1, 6-1 win at #3, while Hayley Bidwell and Presley Daggett also had confident 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2 wins at #4 and #5, respectively.
The Diplomats have just one CC match remaining - a trip to Ursinus on Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m.. F&M then awaits its postseason fate, as many of its competitors have final week matches to catch up in CC play.
