COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall women's tennis punched their ticket to the Centennial Conference (CC) postseason with a 9-0 blanking of Ursinus at Perkiomen Valley High School on Monday evening. The Diplomats (7-7, 6-3 CC) clinched no worse than the No. 4 seed in its victory over the Bears (9-7, 3-4 CC).
The Diplomats grabbed an early 3-0 lead on the backs of a clean sweep of doubles victories, winning a pair by 8-4 margins, while Cassidy Landau and Sammi Perry won 8-2 as top pairing.
F&M then swept through singles, winning four by straight sets. Jenna Harrison made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3, followed by Sammi Perry's 6-1, 6-2 match-clincher at #2.
Mackenzie Sherman picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5, along with Presley Daggett's 6-4, 6-2 win at #6.
Cassidy Landau and Hayley Bidwell both gutted out three set wins at #1 and #3, respectively.
F&M now awaits the results from the final week of regular season play and will begin tuning up for a potential first round match on Wednesday.
