FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team capped its weekend of nationally-ranked opponents on Sunday with a 9-0 match against No. 21 Mary Washington.
The Diplomats came closest to winning a match at No. 4 singles where Clara March Okuyama dropped a 7-5, 6-4 match against Mary Washington's Rebecca Stepleman. Hayley Bidwell also played a 6-4 opening set against her opponent at No. 5 singles. The tightest match of the doubles competition came at No. 3 where the pairing of Presley Daggett and Sammi Perry won four games before the Eagles' secured the winning point.
Women's tennis will now turn its attention solely to Centennial Conference action for the remainder of the regular season, starting with a match this coming Tuesday at Muhlenberg that is set for 4 p.m. The Diplomats should certainly be battled tested for conference play as they have faced five nationally-ranked opponents during the first half of the regular dual season.
