SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team took three matches against No. 23 Swarthmore during its final competition of the regular season on Saturday. Jenna Harrison won both her matches, teaming up with Clara March Okuyama in doubles, while Cassidy Landau added another win at No. 1 singles.
Harrison and Okuyama finished the regular season with a 6-1 record in Centennial Conference matches together following their 8-6 victory on Saturday. F&M nearly grabbed another match at No. 3 doubles before Rebecca Bellick and Amelia Squires were edged by an 8-6 score against them. Nevertheless, that duo still finished wth regular season with a 5-2 record in conference doubles.
Cassidy Landau picked up the 25th singles win of her career at the top of the singles lineup where she defeated Swarthmore's Jenny Lewis by a 6-4, 6-1 score. Landau went 7-2 in conference singles against this spring and has a team-high 11 victories on the year. Harrison added a win to the team's efforts at No. 2 singles. Up a set after a 6-3 victory to start that match, Harrison's opponent retired with an injury. With that victory, Harrison concluded her regular season with a 4-2 singles mark in Centennial action.
Following today's matches, the Diplomats officially finished fourth in the Centennial Conference regular season standings. That placement earns F&M another home match as the Diplomats will host fifth-seeded Washington College on Wednesday, April 26 during the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament. That start time for that match will be determined on the playoff conference call which is set for Monday morning.
