LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (5-6, 3-1 CC) earned a big 7-2 victory over Centennial Conference foe Gettysburg (6-3, 3-2 CC) Wednesday evening at the Brooks Tennis Center. F&M claimed its third conference win of the season as it defeated the Bullets in two of the doubles matches and five of the singles matches.
Gettysburg took over the first doubles match to jump out to an early lead, but the Diplomats answered with an 8-3 win by Rebecca Bellick and Amelia Squires to tie the contest at 1-all. F&M gained the edge in the middle doubles match as the pairing of Jenna Harrison and Clara March Okuyama won their second match as a duo this season, 8-5.
Harrison (No. 2), Mackenzie Sherman (No. 3), and Hayley Bidwell (No. 6) jumpstarted F&M in the singles matches as all three won their contests in straight sets. Cassidy Landau (No. 1) erased a one-set deficit by winning straight sets – claiming her seventh win of the year. Okuyama (No. 5) outlasted her opponent to win in three sets for her third victory of the season.
Franklin & Marshall looks to build upon its winning streak Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when it plays Washington College on the road.
