Christopher Finch '92

A 1991 and 1992 National Association of Basketball CoachesHonorable Mention All-American, Finch played in all 119 games,which tied a then NCAA Division III record for most games played ina career. Overall, he started the final 115 games, compiling a102-13 record (88.7%), the most career wins as a starter in NCAADivision III history. The all-time blocked shot leader (103) atFranklin & Marshall, he ranks among the all-time best Diplomatsin scoring (1,287-tenth), rebounding (628-twelth), assists(532-second), steals (253-second) and three point field goals(81-ninth). The 1989 MAC and ECAC South "Rookie of the Year," Finchcombined with classmates Will Lasky, Dave Wilding, MarkMaggioncalda and Tom Nicholson to lead the Diplomats to a perfect51-0 regular season at the Mayser Center, 63-2 (96.9%) overall.

In four years, Finch's F&M teams were Middle AtlanticConference Southwest Champions (four times), MAC Champions (threetimes), a 1991 NCAA finalist, made the Final Four once and theElite Eight twice. The 1992 team Most Valuable Player; F&M was105-11 (90.5%) against Division III opponents, 42-12 in road games(77.8%) with Finch in the line up. A graduate of Wilson High Schoolin Reading, Pennsylvania, he earned numerous acclaims including MACSouthwest All-Star (1990, 1991, 1992) and ECAC All-Star (1990,1991, 1992) in addition to being named to eight All-Tournamentteams.

Following graduation, Finch worked as a volunteer coach atConrad Weiser High School before joining the Avesta SheffieldHatters in the English National League as a player. Currently, heis the head coach of the Sheffield Sharks of the English NationalLeague. Head coach Glenn Robinson summarized Finch following the1992 season by stating, "Chris is all the things a coach wants in aplayer: versatile, tough, a skilled passer, ball handler,rebounder, shot blocker, shooter, unselfish, a workaholic and agreat courageous leader. He's also the best defender we've everhad."
