Herb Galebach, a history major, graduated from F&M in 1951.During his collegiate career, Galebach played four years offootball, three of baseball, and one of basketball. However, it wasin football that Galebach earned his Hall of Fame recognition. Hissenior year (1950), the Diplomat football team completed the firstundefeated, untied season in school history, completing the yearwith a 9-0 record. On their way to the undefeated season, theDiplomats shut out five opponents and allowed only one opponent toscore more that 14 points in a game.

The Diplomats trounced Gettysburg, 59-20, in their annualThanksgiving Day battle, assuring the undefeated season. F&Mranked among the small college leaders on defense that year,allowing only 160 yard per game. Galebach's versatility was bourneout by the many positions he played during that season and hiscareer: quarterback, defensive safety, placekicker, punter, andoffensive play-caller. A number of Galebach's teammates havealready preceded him into the F&M Sports Hall of Fame.Following graduation, Galebach owned and operated Galebach'sFurniture Store in Lancaster until its recent sale. He continues toreside in Lancaster.
