Megan Devine came to Franklin & Marshall College fromArchbishop Ryan Girls School in Philadelphia. While she had anexcellent swimming background before matriculating to F&M,nothing could have predicted the type of success she would achievewhile competing for the Diplomats. During her freshman year, Devinewas the high scorer on the team with 130 points and established newF&M records in the 400 individual medley and 200 butterflyevents. She won the MAC championship in the 100 and 200 butterflyraces and qualified for the NCAA Division III championships inthree events. She earned honorable mention All-American for herperformance in the 200 butterfly.

Her sophomore year was somewhat of a let down from her previoussuccesses, but she was still among the team leaders in moststatistical categories. In 1988-89, Devine regained her dominanceby scoring the most points during the season with 104. She tookfirst place in the MAC championships in the 100 and 200 butterflyevents and placed second in the 400 IM, setting three F&Mrecords in the process and a new MAC standard in the 200 butterfly.She qualified for the NCAA Division III Nationals, where she resetF&M and personal records by finishing 22nd in the 200freestyle, 16th in the 100 butterfly, and 6th in the 200butterfly.

Elected captain her senior year, Devine dedicated herself tobeing the best she could be to close out her highly successfulcareer. She led the team in scoring again with 124 points in dualmeets, 106.25 in the MAC championships, and 58.8 at the NCAADivision III championships. She capped off an outstanding season bywinning the 200 butterfly event on the final day of the NCAA's inschool record time of 2:06.05, which earned her All-Americanhonors. She earned additional All-American honors by placing thirdin the 400 IM (4:34.73), fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:05.29) andas a member of the eighth-place 200 freestyle relay team (1:40.87),all in school record times. The record-setting performances byDevine helped F&M to score 94.5 team points and finish 13th,their best team performance at the national level. Devine won fourvarsity letters and was named the team's MVP three times.

She was a seven-time All-American and won the "OutstandingWomen's Swimmer" award at the MAC championships her senior year.She set seven individual F&M records, three MAC records, andwas a member of five record-setting relay teams. Her final honorcame right before graduation when she was named as the OutstandingSenior Athlete--Women for 1989-90. Graduating with a major inhistory, Devine works for CompuServe Network Services as an accountrepresentative. She lives in Hermosa Beach, C.A.
