A native of Broomall P.A., Donna quickly fit in with thetradition of excellence in both field hockey and lacrosse. Duringher outstanding career, she became one of the finest players everin both sports. She was an exceptional talent on very strong teamsplaying the best competition in the East. Changes in eligibilityallowed Donna to play four seasons each of field hockey andlacrosse. In field hockey, Donna was a four-year starter andletterwinner. During her freshman year, the team won the MACSouthwest title on their way to a 5th place finish in theAssociation for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) DivisionIII national tournament.
The next year, the team won the MAC championship, finishedsecond in the Eastern AIAW regional and played to a 2nd placefinish in the AIAW Division III national championships. Donna tiedfor the team in scoring and was named a first team MAC All-Starselection. In her junior season, Donna again tied for the team leadin scoring, made the All-Conference team for the second consecutiveyear and was named to the Division III All-American team. The teamwon the MAC championship, the NCAA Division III regionals, andfinished third in the first NCAA Division III national tournament.As a senior, Donna was named captain and provided the leadership toguide the team to another successful season, which culminated in athird place finish in the NCAA Division III nationaltournament.
Individually, Donna led the conference in scoring, was named tothe MAC All-Star team for the third consecutive year, and to theNCAA All-Tournament Team. She was name the team MVP, and earnedAll-American honors for the second year. She also finished herfield hockey career tied first in career points with 57. Inlacrosse, Donna was a four-year starter and letterwinner. Duringher freshman year, the team finished second in the EAIAW regionalsand then played their way to second place finish in the AIAWnationals. She was named to the MAC All-Star and AIAWAll-Tournament teams. The next year, the team won the EAIAWregionals and finished third in the AIAW nationals. Individually,Donna was named to the AIAW Division III All-Tournament team. Shecored seven goals in one game in the national tournamentquarterfinals.
In her junior year, the team won the MAC Championship, thenfinished second in the U.S. Women?s Lacrosse Association (USWLA)Division III championship, which replaced the AIAW championship.She was named tot the MAC All-Star team, the Division IIIAll-Tournament team, and was named the team?s MVP. Her season washighlighted by All-American honors at the end of the year. Hersenior season started out beautifully as the team won six straight.A serious back injury, that would require surgery later, endedDonna's season and career.
The team lost the next six without her leadership and skills. Atthe end of her collegiate career, Donna was named the OutstandingSenior Athlete-Woman in 1984. She continues to play lacrosse in thePhiladelphia Women's Lacrosse Association. Donna earned her B.A.degree in government from Franklin & Marshall. She completedher J.D. at the Delaware School of Law and is now an attorney,practicing civil litigation, real estate and estate law in Media.Donna resides in Broomall and will marry Steven Coyne in December199
