Victoria Jiranek Uryniak '94

A record setter in every sense of the word, Jiranekset the bar for every women’s tennis player at F&M as themost victorious player in school history with 87 wins. She alsoranks third in doubles wins with 64 victories. Jiranek was rankedin the top-20 in the Division III national rankings in both herjunior and senior seasons. Not only did she rank tenth in thenational rankings, but at the height of her career, she rankedseventh at the NCAA Championships. Jiranek won four ITA DivisionIII Eastern Regional titles, half of which were singles titles, andmade two quarterfinal runs in the ITA National Tournament. Jiranekled her team to a four-year record of 66-18, capturing a MACConference Championship in 1993 and a Centennial ConferenceChampionship in 1994. The team was one of 14 teams to qualify forthe NCAA Championships in both 1993 and 1994.  In 1993, theteam finished in the top eight, defeating both St. Thomas and EmoryUniversity.  In 1994, an illness to a teammate put a damper onthe team competition, but Jiranek still managed to qualify for theNCAA Singles Championship.
