Richard P. Vaughan '42

He was a heavyweight wrestler, who had a career record of 27 wins, four losses, and two ties. Among his wins were eight victories by falls. He was the national American Amateur Union (AAU) Champion at heavyweight in 1937, 1944, and 1945, and was the runner-up in 1946 and 1947. He was a member of the United States Olympic Committee in 1948.

"Dick" Vaughn went undefeated in his sophomore season in Lancaster, after winning the National AAU Championship the previous year.

Vaughn returned to F&M as a coach, beginning in the 1946-47 season - aiding Austin Bishop. The team went 10-1 during the season, and were crowned champions of the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference in their first year of competition in the league.

He is retired as a consulting analyst, commercial department, U.S. Steel, and as a lay minister of the United Methodist Church.
