Craig Blackman '81

Craig was another in the long line of outstanding wrestlers tocompete at the NCAA Division I level for F&M. He establishedhimself as a starter early in his collegiate career, lettering fourtimes. Craig competed in three NCAA championship tournaments,placing fifth at 90 lbs. to earn All-American status in 1981. Craigfinished with a 63-10-1 record in dual meets and a career record of88-20-2. He set team records for wins (19 in 1978) and takedowns(68 in 1981) which have since been broken but still rank among thebest in the team's storied history. 

He was a three-time EIWA placewinner, which included thechampionship at 190 in 1980. Craig also captained the team hissenior year and was named "Uncle Charlie Mayser Award" winner. As asophomore, he was a member of the U.S. Junior Freestyle team thattraveled to Mongolia, where he placed sixth. Craig received a B.A.degree in religious studies and later earned an M. Ed. Degree fromPenn State University. He is a teacher and wrestling coach atIndian River High School in Chesapeake, Va.
