Berline was a standout on the squash courts, earningSecond Team All-American honors in each of his four seasons. Hecaptured the National Intercollegiate Doubles Championship as asenior with Michael Sabatine and became the first player in F&Mhistory to win the coveted Intercollegiate Squash RacquetsAssociation Skillman Award. The prestigious Skillman Award ispresented annually to a senior who excelled as both a top playerand showed impeccable sportsmanship throughout hiscareer. 

Berline compiled an 89-38 (.701) record throughouthis four seasons, leaving him second in career victories atF&M. He never played lower than the No. 2 spot on the squad andmissed only two matches in four years. He led the Diplomats to atop-10 national ranking each year, including a No. 4 ranking as afreshman and a No. 5 ranking as a senior. A two-year co-captain,Berline was named team MVP following his junior and seniorseasons.
