Ralph Hartman played football for four seasons at F&M. In aday of smaller men, he, at six-foot and 250-pounds dominated theline from his position at tackle. Coach "Uncle Charley" Mayserdescribed him as his "bread and butter player," and president HenryH. Appel named him to his personal All-F&M team. Playingfullback in his final collegiate game, he scored four touchdownsagainst Gettysburg in the Diplomats' 40-7 romp in the fall of 1912.He was also a very good baseball player, and was a member of SigmaKappa fraternity. While a student at Lancaster TheologicalSeminary, he coached football and baseball at F&M. He isretired as a minister of the United Church of Christ, and lives inAllentown, PA.
