John Martino, a goalie, was on of the chief reasons why theF&M lacrosse team enjoyed outstanding success in the early1970s. Coach Ross Sachs calls him the premier goal tender inF&M lacrosse history. With him in the "nets," F&M compileda 36-3 record and was undefeated against Middle Atlantic Conferenceopponents while winning three straight MAC championships. He was afirst-team MAC Conference selection for three years, and was namedthe conference MVP in 1974. He earned third-team LittleAll-American honors in 1974. His 221 saves in 1973 established aCollege record that still stands. John is the executive assistantto the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
