Kim Abramson Hansen '77

Kim Abramson Hansen, originally from Norwalk, C.T., and nowowner of a company that publishes children's books, lives inArlington, V.A. She was a letterwinner on the first women's varsityswimming team in 1974 that posted a 5-5 record under McGinness. Sheset college and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) records in 1975 inthe 200-yard IM with a time of 2:34.16. She also set school recordsin the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard IM.

At the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, Hansen combinedwith Amy Lucas '76, Donna Patton '76 and Martha Whitman (Aynardi)'76 to record their best time of the season in the 400 freestylerelay (4:06.32), place fourth and qualify for the EasternChampionships. She also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle, fifthin the 100 freestyle and posted a third place finish in the 500freestyle. Dropping 17 seconds off her previous best time of theseason to touch the wall at 5:58.8.

The Diplomats finished fifth in the team standings, one pointbehind Gettysburg. In 1977, serving as the team captain, shecombined with F&M Sports Hall of Famer Catherine "Kitty"Callaghan '79, Janet Miller '77 and Amy Lucas '77 to place fifth inthe 400 medley relay (4:50.2) at the MAC championships.
