John M. Stevenson '72

John Stevenson was a member of the College's competitivewrestling squad in the early 1970s. In addition to compiling anoutstanding 50-4-1 record, he won the NCAA College Divisionnational championships at 167 pounds in 1971 and 1972. He alsoplaced second in the EIWAs in 1970, fourth in 1971, and second in1971 and 1972 at 177 pounds. He was named by Amateur Wrestling Newsas an All-American, honorable mention in 1971 and 1972. He won theUncle Charlie Mayser Award in 1970. He was a member of theEast-West All-Star Wrestling Classic. He also competed in trackduring his freshman year. He is now an income maintenancesupervisor with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare inPhiladelphia, where he lives. He earned a master's degree inpolitical science at Temple University.
