Robert D. Curtis served as head football coach from1971-74, posting a record of 32-3 and turning in two of F&M'sunbeaten, untied seasons. His .914 winning percentage is tops inschool history. In 1972, Curtis guided the Diplomats to a 9-0regular season mark and the second of four straight Middle-AtlanticConference South Championships. The Diplomats earned the DivisionIII Lambert Trophy in 1972, the era's most coveted footballaward.
