A four-year letterman, Pagnozzi is among the greatest passers inthe history of football at Franklin & Marshall College. Aphilosophy major, he holds the school record for most touchdownpasses in a season (21, 1989) and is tied with Larry Shadek for thelongest pass play/scoring pass in school history as he connectedwith Gary Williams for a 95 yard touchdown in a 24-14 victory atFDU-Madison in 1989. Following a freshman season in 1985 the sawPagnozzi complete three-of-seven attempts for 19 yards and atouchdown, he took off the 1986 season.
In 1987, he completed 65-of-139 passes for 918 yards and fourtouchdowns as F&M finished the season 9-1-1, 7-0 in theCentennial Football Conference to earn the program's secondstraight CFC Championship. As a junior in 1988, he completed85-of-212 attempts for 1,293 yards with 11 touchdowns as theDiplomats concluded the season 7-3, 6-1 in Conference play. In hissenior year, Pagnozzi led a Diplomats' offense that put up bignumbers, averaging 366 yards and 29.8 points in the regular season.The team threw for 1,974 yards, rushed for 1,682 and scored 298points.
Individually, he threw for 1,883 yards, completing 111 of 231attempts, while accumulating 1,859 total yards and tossed asingle-season school record 21 touchdown passes as the Diplomatsfinished 9-1 in the regular season, 10-1 overall, including a 31-18victory over St. John's in the Eastern College Athletic ConferenceChampionship game. The team's 10-win campaign marked the mostsingle season victories in program history. He finished his careerwith 264 completions on 589 passing attempts (44.8 completionpercentage) for 4,113 yards and 37 touchdowns with 35interceptions.
He ranks fifth all-time in passing yardage behind Bill Meekings'94 (5,640), Rob Shepardson '83 (5,474), Joe Coviello '77 (4,651)and Beau Eckert '97 (4,233). Overall, he was 33-7 as a member ofthe F&M football team, including a program best 24-3-1 recordin Centennial Conference play.
